Water drops falling in secession Repeatedly, reverberating plodding Into the dish pile two days old. A mixing bowl slowly fills with each drip. Dishes stacked high like time stacked against me. The clock use to tick, I told it to quiet down. That didn’t stop time’s helpful reminders. Drip drop drip drop, the faucet keeps good time. My step click click click follows a similar beat. I hear it as my heels hit the street And I make my way toward the construction zone Ringing metal and pounding wood reach my own Clicking boots on the pavement. Click bang click bing click rang click boom Hammer Step Hammer Step I am a human not a machine A person I have a dream Of being and breathing Of doing and seeing The world and all.... Tick tick tick I will travel I will marvel... Click click click I will love an go above... Boom boom boom I will be free I will be me.... Tick click tick click boom I will be on time for work. I will be faster today you jerk. But I need to take a break. No boss this smile is not fake Tick boom tick boom Hammer in rhythm with the clock Hear the ticking in your head Your footsteps fall in lock With the pace, rest when you’re dead. I am a person not a machine If simply because I can dream.
