Anger

The anger pulses in my veins Corrupted system Thoughts and feelings Pounding at muscle and sinew Rattling inner bones With a long drawn Battle cry and a sigh Blind eyes of wrath Paint everything in smoke In my throat words choke Become a feeble laugh. Stop now, quiet down Take a look around Breath deep calm I watched the cream Evaporate in rings The coffee changing color. An old man’s tired truck 0-55 in 11 minutes. And I walk along The same old path Another nobody In and out of the Light. J. Niles This poem was written while I was driving someone around. Anger coming from many sources, the traffic, the heat, the errands that weren’t being done. I had been focusing hard on not allowing the anger to take over and so once I was parked I decided to write about it rather than act on it.
