Growing up I didn’t have it bad

Had some real cool shit

And my dad never called it quit

The average family

Breaking even

Made it hard for dreamin

You wanna be the all star coming up

But the padres have to be gangster to pay for it

I didn’t go to camp or play sports in kid hood

But I tell you want I did do

Walking home after school

Read a lot just about every book I got

But it’s not so simple to change the plot

I wanted to be the best

But felt far behind the rest.

Pushing harder to be smarter

Or get stronger

Don’t know what defeat is

I grind just to feed us

On my two feet this

Is the only option I’ve had.
