Thinking of poetry and writing

Sinking realizations about my world

But all I can feel is the comedown and the coffee

Listen to the sounds of the city

Trucks beeping in reverse, the signs and groans of breaks

The shovel as it scrapes

Headaches

The grind of a shift on going

The golden state

In a compromised fate

Even before disaster

It was declining at rate.

The pandemic makes it faster

Change or fall, a loss of all

We the people can only wait

To face the next curve of survival
